Tattoo Session Prep
In preparation of your big day here are some key notes to keep in mind:
- Moisturize the area leading up to your appointment EXCEPT for the day of.
- Eat a balanced, high protein, meal before your tattoo, food is FUEL!
- Get plenty of rest
- Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water a day, plus an extra for every non water beverage.
- Wear dark comfy clothes (in case of ink splatters + photo purposes)
- DO NOT shave area in advance, but you can trim the hair down to save some time during skin prep.
- It is always good to have a light jacket or flannel in case you get cold
- Bring anything that makes you most comfy, a book, candy, headphones, etc.
NOTE: It is important that you follow your specific artists prep and aftercare
Aftercare
After receiving your tattoo, I will clean you up and apply your first dermal bandage. During this time, I'll have explained the application process and following aftercare instructions:
- I will apply the bandage, Giving you a detailed explanation on how to do so in case you need to patch it.
- You will leave this bandage on for the first 3-4 days. The bandage is water proof so you can shower. Give it a look over before showering to monitor for any potential leaks. Don't submerge it in a body of water for extended amounts of time.
- I always recomending sending me an updated photo for the first 4-5 days, I can also help monitor for changes and ensure things are going smoothly.
- Around the 3-4 day mark the tatttoo should be done secreting plasma, and beginning to dry down.
- This is when you will want to remove the bandage. You should do this in the shower at whatever water temp is comfortable for you. Pulling the bandage away from you (similar to removing a command strip),
- Wash the wounded area with Dial Gold Antibacterial soap. (PUMP BOTTLE ONLY) You can use the soap, working it in small thorough circles to remove plasma residue and remove the Dermor.
- Once removed wash throoughly and pat dry with a CLEAN towel.
_ Apply coconut oil immediatley for about a week, reapplying whenever you feel it is drying out. After a week of cocounut oil you can choose to opt for a frgrance free lotion.
- Remember to moisturize and apply SPF EVERYTIME the tattoo is exposed to the sun.
